Day 4 of YoReCa camp 09 EARTHQUAKE

Today we had our moring exercise today. Lead by our Irwin hahahaha ;D almost the same as day 2 and day 3 moring exercise but since it's the last day so the whole YoReCa group from 1 to 5 just put in all the best since it's the last day (so sad) hahaha. After that we have our breakfast today breakfast is 'BURGER' all of us should only take one unless if there's extra Obama take two burger and he ate it during the presentations.

After breakfast all YoReCa members went to their room to pack up everything left nothing behind and gather at the learning lounge and discuss on our team presentations on 'HTA'(Home Team Academy.) It didn't went so well at the beginning because our group don't have much time but we still tried our best to make it in time everyone was so High at day 4.

We had our video flashback on the camp 2009 23 nov 09 to 26 nov 09 wow the flashback was awsome.(3 cheers and 3 cheers and 3 cheers for camera man) after the video the group take turns to perform. The good news is that our group presentation went smoothly as what we want like what OBAMA said 'YES WE CAN'

Good Job 'EARTHQUAKE'

The champion of the presentation group is the 'Hooligans' when the time the hooligans turn to perform all of YOReCa people keep on lauging not because of the perform it's because of the putting a sleeping bag inside his shirt which look like a ******* after the presentation we found that since it's the last day all group members made a lot of funny things like some boys wear skirt some of their put the sleeping bag in their shirt which makes it look like a ******.

Then we have our last Lunch with our group (so sad) can't bear to said goodbye as the 4 days was so fast over some of said why 'camp is not 10days 9nights' 4 days so short we do our EARTHQUAKE till we lost our voice. We have a lot of fun at the camp though out the 4 days.
We chat a lot of things(can't remember what we said) at day 4 all of us begin to show our talent Ken show his rock star voice wow so cool Irwin show his card magic as it shock all of us and last but not least Hakim the OBAMA 'yes we can do it'

Final Debrief we got our Certificate, total of 3 Certificate the last one is special they anyhow give we will take the cert and pass it to the correct person as it's our chance to get to know their as well one person(can't the group colour too many people walk around) he went up to the stage take the mic and said something because he can't find the person wooo good idea.

After than we have a small little game call the 'TRAIN RIDE' very fun as the train begin to get faster and faster.Left over time we chat together to find out more of each other all of us were so high even Yu xian day 1 to 3 she was a bit quiet at day 4 she's the one who is high then all of us we were all shock wow oday yu xian so high for. Deborah the most high than all of us only at night don't feel like sleeping talk here talk there :DDDDDDDDDDD. Times up time to go to the bus all YoReCa were shock when they hear the word TIMES UP.

Some of us take the bus some walk home not sure if we still can meet again some day.

Day 3 in YoReCa Camp :D

Let's skip all the waking up part since all of us are in different rooms :))

As usual, we did the morning exercises. This time, we had to do 3 sets of all the exercises. For the squats, instead of "we will we will rock you" we changed it to "boom boom pow". However, the rhythm was completely wrong and we stuck with "we will we will rock you" in the end again. xD

We also had to run one by one until the whole team ran finish. Instead of running forward, we tried running backwards in the 2nd round. Seeing us do that, Cheri instructed for all the other groups to run backwards in the 3rd round. But in the 3rd round, we decided to hop backwards. :))

For breakfast today, we had Hokkien Mee with 2 fishballs each! WOOHOO! :D IT WAS YUMMY, obviously ;)

After breakfast, we had a 5-station challenge! Oh, right. We also had this group cheer thing. We kept inputting ideas and going off topic that even when Cheri came back, we had no cheer! While the other groups were cheering, we used that time to make our cheer. And i think it turned out awesome! :D It's actually a song instead of a cheer. We edited the words of Old McDonald Had A Farm. XD

It goes like this:
Old McDonald had a farm, ee-i-ee-i-oh.
And on his farm he had a "RIS LOW!", ee-i-ee-i-oh.
With a BOOMZ BOOMZ here and a SHINGZ SHINGZ there, here BOOMZ there SHINGZ everywhere LEOPARDPWINTS,
Old McDonald had a farm, ee-i-ee-i-oh.

Even though this was completely impromptu, I think we did well :D there was a good reaction from the audience as they were all laughing and cheering:)

The first challenge was the hop-scotch. After much strategising from our group, we managed to do what i felt was extremely well (heh heh) in that challenge. The highest score in that game was about 100+, but we obtained 217 points! WOOHOO! :) THREE CHEERS AND THREE CHEERS AND THREE CHEERS FOR CHERI!

The next challenge was the Acid River. Personally, I feel that this is the most difficult challenge of them all! All 16 of us had to squeeze on a few planks and bricks! In the end, we managed to collect 2 of the items in the river - the radio and the whistle. Even though we didnt manage to beat the highest mark, I felt that we did well anyway. :)) We had fun, and isn't that the main point of this whole camp? xD

After the Acid River, we went to the skipping rope challenge! At first, we tried to do it with everybody standing sideways. But in the end, we felt that facing the front was a much easier way. We even tried to skip while singing our cheer! :D That failed of course, but it was fun anyway! xD

Our next challenge was the human ladder! ((: We were supposed to transport each person to the other side using just wooden sticks. WOHOOO:D

LET'S GIVE A GOOD JOB CHEER FOR EVERYBODYYYYYYYYYYY :D

We went to Home Team Academy and the Immigration Checkpoint at Tuas. Many things were confidential and we're not allowed to type the details here :) But it was interesting overall.

TADAHHHH I SHALL GO SLEEP NOW ~ XD

BYEEE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)

Day 3

Day Three of YoReCa '09 Camp(:
EARTHQUAKE!

Today we had the usual morning exercise but we did three times with the guidance of King Arther:( MUSCLE PAIN!! Then we had our breakfast! ENERGY! After that, we went to took up the 5 stations challenge. For our first station, it was the "Skip Together", everyone have to co-ordinate and jump together. It was difficult even though we strategies but everybody tried their best. From this station, we learnt to trust each other and don't blame the people who didn't manage to jump.

For station 2, we played the "Human Ladder". For this challenge, we had two people to hold the wooden poles and we formed a "floating ladder". From this station, our team was determined and we persevered. We also cheered for our group members and encouraged them. These gave us the drive to move on and reach our destination, though sometimes we failed, we still pressed on!

For station 3, we played the "Moon Ball". We had to hit as many times as we could in our own group. For our team, we had two people in the middle and the others formed a circle. Our strategy was that we hit the ball to the middle people and hit back to the people in the circle. Some of us got frustrated and lost our patience but on the whole we did our best and had a score of 37! GOOD JOB EARTHQUAKE!

For station 4, we challenged the "Hotscoth". At first, our members hopped to number 5 to7 which took a very long time and we came our with a strategy that everyone will hop to number 2, cause we weren't greedy! At the end, we had quite a surprising score.(secret)

Our last station was the "Acid River". For this challenge, we need to have co-operation with each other and think of the best solution. However, the most important thing we had learnt was to have fun!

After the amazing challenges, we travelled to the Home Team Academy. We had a introduction on what the HTA does by the officer there and we headed off to some stations to learn more details about the HTA. We got to learn about how suicide bombers work and also the threats Singapore might be facing. It was really shocking when we saw a photo of a head of a suicide bomber. We also got to know how and where they place the bombs examples like letter and even a box of chocolate.

We had lunch at the HTA and travelled down to the Immigration Checkpoint Authority(ICA) to learn about the threats and challenges at Tuas Checkpoint. We learnt about how the immigrants attempted to smuggle themselves through singapore. Also, we learned how Immigraiton Checkpoint Authority ( ICA) uses latest technology to detect potential threats to the country.

ANywayz, there is no time left and the auntie is pestering us to stop blogging. Water the flower and hope EarthQuake left an impression on you. (AFtermath) :(

I LOVE YOU ALL! (DEBS) :)

Love,
EARTHQUAKE.

p.s on the side note, the quiz is glitch on some parts and its really unfair to us. Consider improving on how the quiz works cuz we got scammed.

YEEEEHAAWWWWW!
we brainstormed a fabulous cheer after breakfast, it goes like this:

As we bang to the left
As we bang to the right
As we bang x2
As we bang all night,
With a horse and a gun,
And a full lassoround,
With a horse and a gun,
And we bang all down!
*stylo move*

Challenges:
Acid River, Skip together, Human ladder, Moon ball and lastly hopscotch.

Bus trips:
We went to Home Team Acad and had briefings.
We visited some stations and had our platable lunch.

We then headed to Tuas Checkpoint.
We saw how they screened the luggages and cargos.
It was interesting and refreshing.
We were all engrossed in what was in the passengers' bags lol!
Orange= non-metal, Organic.
Green= Mixture
Blue= Metallic

We then headed back to NACLI camp.
there was jam on the way but we had fun gossiping.
LOADS OF FUN.

EXCLUSIVES:

1. LingShan: (at human ladder) You sure you can carry me? I very heavy leh.
Sorry sorry. Eh, why you so short? Grow taller leh. Cannot one cannot one.
(at Home Team Acad) Oops! Why i using this spoon uh?
Alamak, this one for dessert one.
PS: She lost her bandana but found it on her bed, lol.

2. We gossiped alot of things 'bout BRANDS.
2nd Brand is from our our group! wait, same brand different model, lol.

3. Presentation on how student leaders can act during a epidemic outbreak:
Yanaa and Hadi -> Nurse & Doctor
LingShan -> Head Of Student Leaders.
Wenxuan & Lijun -> Student Leaders

* we used the kindness movement fan as flowers, lol.

Food at the home team acad was very filling that many of us skipped dinner.
LingShan won the $10 Macdonald vouchers!! ^^v.

Tomorrow is the last day, we are planning to have further outings.
Ciaos for now. (:

day 3 of camp:)

we woke up to the sound of weird animals outside our room. the morning was almost the same as yesterdays but we did more stretching. King Arthur led the "5BX" which we did 3 sets. we did till we all felt really tired but more energized! the food was full of nutrition and we filled our stomachs.
next, we had another challenge called the "5 station games". the first station that we went to was called the human ladder. everyone was very extremely cooperative and we completed the challenge in a snap ! YAY ! :D Though it was tiring and our sweat started flowing like the nigiara (sp?)falls , WE ENJOYED OURSELVES . MOST IMPORTANTLY , WE LEARN AN INVALUABLE LESSON , TEAMWORK !! :D

We then proceeded to other stations . One of which , was the moonball . It was strategised with Boss Ashique standing in the centre and the rest of the group members surrounding him with 2 helpers saving the godly ball :D Thank god we had xavier who SAVED it :D ( HAHAHAHA GET THE PUN ??? XAVIER SAVES ??? ) ;)

proceeding on , we then went on to the acid river . It tested our teamwork , as we alkali , completely neutralised it :D HAHAHAH . Yup , we conquered it with RESILENCE .
And thus the acid river became a PH7 :) CUZ THE GORILLAZ ROCKETH THE HOUSEEEEEEEEEE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AND WE HAVE ALKALIS ON OUR HAIRY DAIRY LARRY SCARY ZANY WEARY PERRY , Whatever , fur :) ( hahahah xavier says there is too much of smilies ... it's just ah .............. {FILL IN THE BLANKS} )

So yadda yadda blah blah blah , it was finally the ROPE SKIPPING SESSION . It was really tough as we couldnt coordinate . But hey ! To err is human , to forgive divine :) :) :) :) Even though we only managed one , but a small step by the gorillaz , and a GIANT LEAP FOR MANKIND !
Too bad , His majesty Dubey , only gave us 1 instead of 2 .But resilence conquered our weary-hairy-funny-danny-tanny-yanny-yummy hearts . We bounced back from our mistake like how the moonball did :) And so , the gorillaz did it again . ( Oops i did it again ! ) Hahaha sorry britney . But your song is like Boomz shingz a nong nong time ago full of leopard preens ^v^hehehehehe.

Finally , we were at our final station ! Woohoo ! The butterscotch-hopscotch ( we are just hungry btw ) was so toppy-woppy-roppy-copy-boppy-hoppy'ly Good . We had a hoppin' good t'me :) Our first plan failed , so did our second . But three time was our magic number to success ! :D Oooooooooooooooh yeah ! We were the ones who got the highest score ! ( ego , ego ) Muahahahahaha . Who says gorillaz cant be proud . Cuz we're m'ghty proud . That satisfaction was priceless . THAT is the spirit !!

So it's 11.40 now and thy shall skip the 5 stations to our field trips . Go link to other posts la !
So ICA and HTA was boomz . All the police-y stuff and drug-y explosive-y terrorist-y stuffs really made our minds WHIRL . And go boomz .

First of , HTA . All the guns , and policemen/policewomen marching in unison really blew our minds off . It was heartwarming to know that Singapore's security is really high-techish , with the GORILLAZ of course HAHAHA . The talk was borrrrrrrrring and Ashique was truly No.1 in sleeping with eyes open . The expression ... win already . Mouth open , saliva dripping , and eyes wide opened like a vampire . But his perserverance in sleeping was well worth it . We all had a good laugh . :D HAHAHAHAH :p

Then it was lunch time . THANK YOU HTA ! :D The meal was wayyy better than any we had at NACLI . Fishcake , Fried dumplings , Fried fish and veggies was ichibang ! :) The gorillaz ate like there was no tomorrow , like WHOAA :) Reason : We are gorillaz .

After that , we headed to ICA at tuas . The busride was shingz . Hellish boring to the core with Ashique's singing . He completely screamed his lungs off , completely off key . Singapore glass is expensive and btw ASHIQUE : DON'T BREAK IT !

As we are posting this entry , Mdm vati is chasing us . So gotta go , toodles :)

Just get well soon!!! ;)

And thats it for today thanks and adios!! Post more tomorrow!! ;)

Day 2

Second day of YuReCa was indeed a fun experience.

We had to report to the carpark area at 7.30am to do our morning exercise, and it had really been a great workout to fresh up our body and mind for the day.
After breakfast, we proceed on to the team building game .
Firstly , we will splited into two groups , followed by , we went to different stations that provided different challenges to us . First of all , Team Challenge Rescue . Its a game about trying to carry a strecher across different obstacles . The first part was pretty difficult due to the fact that we tried it the first time . So , aft numerous try , we improvised on our idea , and showed great teamwork not onlywithin our team , but with other team too . We exchanged strecher to complete the task easily & the instructor praised us with compliments saying that we displayed great teamwork & resilience . Moving on ,
We had our Team Challenge Rescue pit .
It was a game which we had to swing over the pool with just the mere support from a looped rope .
" we were like tarzans" quoted from Yishen .
This game not only showed the brave side of some of us , it showed the "never-dying-spirit" burning deep in them . Although some splashed into the water , one was wiped out o: , but we cheered them on ! We knew it wasnt easy for some of them , but we knew they could do it . At the end of the day , everyone swung across onto the platform successfully , and lived on happily ever after .
Proceeding on , we had our nice LUNCH.
Proceeding on agn , we proceeded to SMRT . Where we learned about external threats and learnt about the consequences . We learnt pretty much stuff & enjoy a good HIGH-TEA at the depot .
Finally , we went to the last destination , which was the SBS transit . We learnt how to evacuate from the bus & learnt what to do when there is an emergency . We enjoyed a slow busride back to the camp .
The team-bonding activity of the day , would be the Key-punch . Its a game that requires the participation of different languages group , so that , we can decify the meaning of some unknown words . The champion was the EARTHQUAKE team , 3 cheers for you guys.
The last thing we had was the quiz of the day , which we had the debate as per normal . Pretty fun & we learnt many new stuff too . And now , we are sitting down here , blogging about all this . I shall therefore end my post here.

2411o9 , 2331 , signing off , Silent Boomz
Proudly done by , yishen , ken .

Second day of camp :)

Second day of Camp:)

we woke up to the relisation that we had to gather at the parade square at 7.30 for our morning flag raising ceremony. flag raising ceremony is important as it instills the sense of belonging to singapore in us. the morning exercise was not the usual stuff that we always do in camp. we did the "5BX". this exercise helped as it woke us up from our sleepy self that we were when we first gathered.
during breakfast, we had a delicious breakfast and that got us ready for our 2 challenges that were coming our way.the first challenge is called the team challenge pit. the pit challenges tests us on our confidence, trust and confidence. each member of the team is required to swing across a pool of water to a platform which was partially submerge in the pool. some people could not make it, however, everyone encouraged and we didnt give up hope on one another. this taught us how to forgive others even though, they brought inconvenience to us. the second challenge we did was the challenge rescue. the rescue challenge requires the members to transport a casualty in a stretcher across a few obstacles. this challenge was difficult but fun to do. during this challenge, however, we met with a few problems. example, our plank kept wobbling and the people who were crossing were put in a dangerous position to cross. also, the supporters didnt support the rescuers well enough, hence resulting in the rescuers falling which woud have us start the game again. however, we still managed to make almost to the end of the course, when the time went up. through this game, we learnt how to work together as a team and how to take confidence in each others decisions.
after the 2 challenges, we had 2 talks on terrorism. one is from the LTA about public transport security awareness. the other is from the SMRT about community emergency preparedness awareness. both talks were interesting and made us more aware of how much we could do to help singapore be a much safer country for everyone to live in.
during lunch, we had rice, fish, vegetables and tofu. the food was awesome.
next, we had to travel to SMRT for a detrainment exercise where we learnt how the main emergency facilities works. this provided us with more understanding on how to react when an emergency happens. this would benefit all of us.

So... what's smrt without sbs ? :D Besides , they are our key source of transport in Singapore . So , essentially , we headed to the sbs head office :D AND WHOAAAAA it was awesome :D the depot was huge . Literally , it's ginormous(gigantic + enormous ) ! Complete awesome-ness :D We had a ride on a typical sbs transit bus . But with the company of our awesome groupmates , the busride was comparable to a roller coaster ride . :D Haha , exxagerating . Anyway , we had a brief on the difference of tapping your ezlink card in and out . Though it does not makes much of a difference , it actually registers on the sbs database on how many commuters actually uses the bus daily . According to the data , sbs then allocate more bus for the commuters usage accordingly . (:

Yadda , yadda ......... we returned to our campsite , NACLI, and had a scrumptious dinner :D

THEN IT WAS THE FINAL GAME !!
THE BRAINKILLERRRRRRRR !!!

but it was definitely a time we got together , AND HEY !
Now we know satu is 1 in malay :D
And sembilan is 9 in malay too !

Not bad eh ?;) Resilence camp + Multi racial language course = YoReCa !!!! :D
Yes , truly ..... Wanna challenge in INDIAN + MALAY + CHINESE NOW ?!?! HAHAHA ok ... i kid i kid :D

Hehe this is getting wordy ... but to conclude ...
From this exposure , we gained an insight on trust , perserverence
and standing up from our failures :)

Oh wellz , its 11.30 now ... Toodles :D

" To err is human , to forgive divine "
Mankind is falable . But to forgive one's team-mate is truly the key to success in a united team :D

Rise and Shine!
We gathered for Flag raising and had morning warm ups.
We proceeded to dining hall and sang birthday song forrrrrrr,
MARDHIAH !!
we had SHARK FINS BEEHOON and golden nuggets.
Unfortunately, we were split up during the team challenge.
" NOOOOOOOOOO!! ))): "
There were 2 challenges:
Team Challenge Rescue whereby we had to transport 'casualties' across obstacles.
& Team Challenge Pit whereby we had to skid across a pond to land on a platform.

Trip to SMRT at Ang Mo Kio:
We reshuffled groupings.
But we remained intact.
Things were going on smoothly as we learnt the features of different emergency appliances
and we headed to bishan depot.
We were actually allowed to 'break the law' by using the emergency appliances
and EATING AND DRINKING ON THE TRAINS!!
Upon arrival, we headed to refreshments.
It was simply SCRUMPTIOUS!
There was Mee Goreng, Dumpling w vinegar, siewmai w chili, brownies&fruit tarts.
YongMing intended to 'dabao' away some for supper, but unfortunately,
we were overcame by our conscious.
Also, we were so suay the bus broke down so we had to wait for another one.
We then headed down to SBS.

At SBS, we had lectures and learnt about public security measures on buses.
We boarded a bus to have a tour around the SBS interior.
We bombed the tourguide with questions.
Then we headed back to NACLI camp.

At dinner, Ling Shan was so traumatised as she boarded the wrong bus back to camp.
She was filled with so much trepidation that she could only bring down one sea cucumber banana. We had sausages, fried chicken wings and vegetables + banana for dinner. yumm.

EXCLUSIVE:
YongMing AKA Patrick:
Upon hearing that there were leftover jellies,
he greedily smuggled a few into his bag.
JiaLe:
Overheard Ling Shan talking about the food, he went insane renaming the food:
  1. Fried beehoon -> Sharkfins beehoon
  2. Fruit Jelly(Longan&cherry)->
Birds nest jelly *longan = abalone. cherry=red dates.
  3. Dessert Spoon -> Bird nest essence-coated spoon. (ZiZhao sucked for at least 1h)
  4. Banana -> Ginseng sea cucumber banana.
Isaac AKA Sacmon:
He was 'matchmade' with Yunni and he went emo for a very long time.

Wenxuan:
Broke fork. ):

Learnt Tamil 1-10 in deactivating bomb game:
In Tamil:
1 - Wonu
2 - Rendu
3 - Moonu
4 - Nalu
5 - Anjee
6 - Aaru
7 - Yealu
8 - Yeightu
9 - Wonbodu
10 - Patu

As we've got no Indian in our group, we were highly dependent on outside friends
for help on these words. Subsequently, we noted down the procedures of the numbers
in our handphones to perform more efficiently.
Our highest record: 40.
*applause*
Benjamin was sweating like no tomorrow. LOL.

Currently, we are preparing for our final day presentation
and once again we wish Mardhiah a very HAPPY 15th BIRTHDAY! (:
Stay tuned for more tomorrow!

WAHHHHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!

Second Day of YoReCa '09 Camp(:

Today we asembled at the parade square and did morning exercise, it was quite interesting. After the fun morning exercise, we went to eat our breakfast, the breakfast was very delicious. We went to have our challenge 2 and 3 after that. Red team had to split themselves and joined us. It was surprising to see them working well with us since they werent in our group.

For challenge 2, we had to transport the "casulties" to the nearest "hospital". We met a few obstacles and we had to overcome it. We were given 2 planks to assist us to bridge the obstacles. It was difficult at the beginning where we had no idea what to do at all. But after brainstorming and trying out a few techniques, we realised which would work and which wouldn't.

From this challenge, we learnt that communication and teamwork is very important. And sometimes it's better to collaborate than compete as this allows us to complete the task faster and more efficiently for both teams. We realised this when we decided to swap "victims" with the other group so that we can navigate the path that we are more familiar with. This allowed both teams to reach their goals. Instead of having selfish motives, by working together, we managed to complete the challenge in the stipulated time.

Afterwhich, still glowing from our success at the previous station, we moved on to the team Pit Challenge, where we had to put our courage and confidence to test when we made use of a rope to swing from the edges of the pool to the platform in the center. Before swinging across, we had to state our goals. Reaching the platform was kinda like achieving our goals; even if we did not succeed the first time, we must always try again and that is the true road to success. Team support is also essential as it always helps to have someone cheering you on to give you encouragement and the drive to pursue the challenges. ;)

Later on, we had a talk organised by Land Transport Authority on Public Security Awareness. We learnt the potential threats that could strike our various public transport modes and how we can play a part in preventing ourselves from becoming a target.

You can save lives, including your own. ;D

After lunch, we travelled to Ang Mo Kio MRT station where we participated in a detrainment exercise. We also learnt various security features and functions of the mrt stations and how to access these features should there be a need. We were also taught to apply S.A.L.U.T.E and H.O.T when faced with a suspiciously behaving person or a suspicious article respectively.

Deb: THERE WAS MOOREEE FOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD! :D

Then we took the bus to SBS transit's west quarters to learn about the security challenges on buses. After a short briefing, we were brought to a "conference" room where we could see the Operating Control Station in action through a glass panel. Afterwhich, we got a ride in the bus with a friendly auntie bus CAPTAIN. :D She explained many things to us, eg. the number of CCTV cameras in each bus and explained the purposes of such security purposes. Thanks, bus capt! :D

Then we headed back to NACLI for DINNNNNNNNNNNERRRRRR! :D ATE ATE ATE. CHEERED CHEERED CHEERED. Got banana leh. xD Then we got to play a team challenge game known as KEY PUNCH, where we had to make use of our LANGUAGE resources(Chinese, Tamil and Malay) to organise numbers 1-50. At first it was challenging, but as everyone participated their 1000000000000000000000000000%, despite being kicked out of the room several times, :) we perservered on and we were the first group to complete the game! WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE~ Happiness! LOVE JOY PEACE AND HOPE AND MORE LOVE! :)

Then we had a quiz, where we kena pwned, unfortunately. Irwin wanted to fish and water the flowers. :) But then, GWEN(DOLYN) answered a question correctly and she got $10 popular voucher sehhhhhhh. Must share share hor. xD

Now we wanna sleep liao. But Irwin dont wanna let us sleep. :( Sad sad liao.

K bye.

Love,
Earthquake. :)

Day 2

YoReCa-ians, it's the end of Day 2... I know it has been a very long long day with repeated HOT and SALTUE talks, but you've all successfully soldiered on to arrive with new knowledge and hopefully new experiences!

Day 1

Our day one experience at YoReCa 09!

By Hooligans (Group 5)/ The Main Event Mafia.

We all entered this camp as strangers and today is the first day and within the first couple of hours we have gotten to know one another, not all our background fully but enough to keep one another entertaint! Haha!

The first thing we did today was headed out to the Alexander Fire Station for a field trip and find out more about Hazmat (Hazardous Materials) and about the different equipment of the Fire Fighters, from their various trucks to their various fire fighting and cleaning agents.

We had a great time there although sadly one of our teammates lost her phone, We pray she can find it soon, we watched and learn about the various Terrorist groups and what they had done to harm the world and our neighbouring countries.

When we came back to the campsite, we headed for the Learning lounge and played a game called Confidence skip. Its hard to explain as there are many stages and well... It was a very long process haha!

But from it we have learned:

-Forgiveness
-Perseverence
-Coordination
-Commication and trust.

After all of that we had many lectures after lectures after lectures and learned more of how Terrorist recuit their members and to tell the truth thats it for today!

Adios!!

First day of YoReCa '09 Camp.

Hey all, we are team 3 and our group name is EARTHQUAKE. Well actually when we first reached the place we barely know where each of us come from but after the warchant game, we got to know each other better and build a bit of team spirit. After the game, we had lunch together. We were quite united as we linked the tables and ate lunch together and waited for each other to eating. After the delicious meal, we went to the Civil Defence Force Training area. We had a lecture by the officer there and we get to know more about Emergency Procedures and Unconventional Threats. It was a fruitful experience.

We had an interesting officer as he was nice and answered all our doubts very willingly. It is good to see that we have fire fighters who are so commited to their job which give us great sense of security. We tried out various things that the fire fighters did such as having experience to play with the hose. We also learnt that they need 6 to 7 hoses when a fire breaks out in the middle of the express way as there is no water hydrant. Also, we finally could differenciate the alarm of the ambulance and fire fighting truck.

We ended this amazing trip and went back to NACLI. We played confidence

Day 1

Today was the first day of our youth resilience camp. At 9 am we were all unfamiliar, quiet individuals but by 10 pm, we transformed into a bunch of confident and cooperative members of an exciting group. No doubt this transformation will continue in us and make us better people, able to apply the qualities we learn in this camp to our real lives.

At first we had a fun time of the team building: The War Chant Game. '(Insert random screaming sounds)!!! DOI'N, DOI'N, DOI'N' was our cheer and we tried our best to fend of random attacks from the other teams. True, we screwed up sometimes, but in the end, we grew closer as a team and had fun (which was the main objective of the camp).

After the game was the opening address and followed by which was the room check in. We entered clean and neat rooms with really cool AIR CONDITIONING (WOOTS)! :D:D:D:D:D:DD::D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D. We had really nice toilets too XD.

We then had a wonderful lunch and then we travelled to the Singapore Civil Defence Force where we received book and notes on how to manage emergency situations (such as a gas attack and a chemical leak, BOOMZ, etc, etc). We were then taught on how to cope with unconventional threats. To supplement the teaching, there was a simulation where we taped the windows with trashbags, masking tapes, leopard preens (jus kidding). We were then brought around the fire station where we were shown how the Civil Defence Force reacted to various threats around Singapore and their daily routine.

After that informative trip, we then retruned to NACLI where we had a team challenge: Confidence Skip. At first, it was hard to get past the skipping rope without being hit by it, but eventually everyone got the hang of it and we managed to clear subsequent levels very quickly and without that many restarts.

We yet again had a great meal for dinner and we moved on to a talk on terrorist ideologies. We came up with ways to prevent these ideologies from spreading like having a critical mind, watch more porn to prevent us from reaching the terrorist sites (jus kidding), avoiding radical books and materials and go consult religious leaders if unsure of the stuff we read on the internet.

Overall, it was a fun and informative day.

--> the anti-terrorism talk
Thanks to the video, i DID NOT fall asleep... :-) out of a sudden, the PA system went BOOMZ! BOOMZ! BOOMZ!

Interesting things today-->
The war game [ bang bang bang ]

Tmr is Mardhah birthday...

All the Cow boys and girls here wish you a HAPPY BIRTHDAY...

First day :)

when we first arrived, the atmostphere was melancholiac and awkward. No one knew each other. However, after the icebreaker warchant we got to know each other better. We acted as different tribes. Afterwards we had lunch togather, soon we got on to the bus and went to the civil defence 1st divison at alexander road to learn more about singapore defences against terrorist threats. it was a very fruitful event and we got to learn many meaningful things that is important in our lives.
when we came back from the civil defence Head quarters, we played a game called the confidence skip. through this game we learnt how to forgive otheres even though their mistakes affected us greatly and that it brought us inconvenience. we also learnt how to communicate well with each other which is a vital key for students like us. even though the game was consuming alot of out time, we managed to get through the game with perseverence and recilience.
next we had our dinner. it was awesome. after our dinner, we had a lecture about terrorist and its idealogy. we discovered many new facts and how terrorist affects us. lastly, we had a quize and supper to end our day.
even though the day was short and we have just met each other, this friendship that has been forged through this day would be treasured throughout our lives.

Day one

Our Day One experience:

Group reflection by BOOMZ!(Group one)

We stepped into the hall, clueless to what we were getting ourselves into. Knowing the amount of new friends we were about to make, the thought of it brightened our perspective immediately. After much awkward silence,my group,Group one(A.K.A Boomz!!) managed to break the silence with some ice-breakers.For example, all the teams played a game called "War Chant".This game had the ability to bring ourselves out of our comfort zone and open up our opinions on how the group can acheive more to "win" the "war". With our teamwork and peseverance,we became closer as a group.

In the early afternoon,we headed down to Alexandra Firestation. It was a great experience because we learnt so much more about the Firefighters in Singapore and what they have been doing to save all lives. They try their very best to make sure that our safety is assured and that everyone feels secured to live in a city like Singapore. On top of that,we even figured out new things about SCDF.An example would be,how the firefighters help save lives in car accidents as well as suicide mishaps. It is definitely a great feeling to know how much these men are doing for our citizens and our group has learnt many values that can be adopted from them.

The most important values are:

-Trust

-Communication

-Resilience

These values are essential in making a team successful especially in times of emergency.

After coming back from a tiring but eventful day at the Firestation,we took on our very first challenge; The confidence skip.Of course, such as every other challenge, there are always learning points to be learnt. The most difficult part of the challenge was how the teams crossing over to the other side were not coordinating and did not move over to the other side together. However, after overcoming this difficulty,we manage to clear everyone and send them over to the other side with much accomplishment. With teamwork, forgiveness and good communication, anything is possible :-)

The day we went through today was eventful,we had much fun getting to know each other.People from different backgrounds, cultures and interests, when being brought together..they can create...BOOMZ!:)

Smile! :)

These boys obviously had a happy day!

How was your day?

Yellow happy campers! It's the end of Day 1 of YoReCa Nov 09 and you've survived it ;) We know it has been a long day, but how about sitting back and thinking about what you enjoyed most about today?

I think it was quite cool that you got to see what goes on behind a fire station? I think I like the pole dancers, er I mean the firefighters coming down on the poles most! :) What about the IPP exercise? Did any smoke come into your 'HDB flat'?

Tell us about your day ok? Meanwhile, do check for photos taken during the day at the YoReCa Facebook Page. Such as this great shot! :)
