A long day & fun day

Today , we started off with morning exercise .
After that , we proceeded to have our wonderful breakfast .
The breakfast was indeed delicious .
Then we went for our 3rd challenge which was challenge pit .
The challenge was very challenging & it requires us to have alot of confidence and believe in ourself in order to do it .
All of our group members were able to clear the challenge .
We were also asked to say out our commitment before taking the leap .
After the 3rd challenge , we went for our 4th challenge which was named " team challenge rescue "
The game is to travel from 1 end to the other end , there are also bonus points if we picked up things on the way . The rules of the game is not to touch the floor & leave our planks / pontoons on the floor by themselves . The challenges we faced were tremendous & the proccess was fun !
We had to have good communications between us in order to succeed in this game .
Overall this game , trained our team spirit & enables us to learn from our mistakes .
After that we had a land transports authority ; community emergency preparedness awareness talk . The talk boosted our knowledge upon the proccedure of the emergency and also decribe the terror of being struck by terrorist in the public transports . That enabled us to be more prepared for any emergencies .
After that , we had 1 hour to eat our lunch .
The chicken wings was very tasty and delicious .
After the lunch we had a talk by the singapore mass rapid transit ; community emergency preparedness awareness . It taught us about "HOT" and " SALUTE" which stands for Hidden, Obviously suspicous, Typical of the environment and Size , Activities , Location , Uniform , Time , Equipments respectively .
It basically reinforced what was presented in the LTA talk earlier in the morning and thus we were able to further learn about the emergency proccedures.
After the talk, we travelled to Ang Mo Kio MRT station. On the way, our group, group 2, discussed for the project. When we arrived at our destination, we were taught about the practical uses for the emergency equipments. We even got to use the emergency phone which when used, connected to called directly to the mrt control station. We found the practical quite interesting as we were allowed to practice using the emergency equipment. We were allowed to use the 'crocodile clipper' , which are used to pick fallen stuff from the railway tracks. after that, we boarded the mrt to the bishan depot. during the trip to the bishan depot, the staff explained to us the emergency equipments in the mrt, such as, fire extinguisher, emergency communication button. when we reached the depot, we were given a real scenario that included smoke seeping in from outisde into the mrt, on how to use the emergency exit and evacuate safely. all in all, we found the practical about the MRT emergency equipment uses quite useful and when there is a real emergency, we can apply what we have learnt from this pracitical to that emergency. after that, we walked to their lecture room to have high tea.
after our stomachs were full from the tea, we boarded the bus to the sbs transit bus depot at Soo Lee. at Soo Lee depot, we had a lecture about the emergency procedures of the public buses. it also used the 'HOT' and 'SALUTE' procedures to identify a suspicous article and suspicous person respectively. after the lecture, we took a bus ride around the bus depot and was taught what to do when caught in an emergency involving an article that fulfilled the 'HOT' critieria. then, we went to the control room to learn what the emergency procedure was all about and what the bus captain does.
after that, we returned to NACLI. we reached NACLI at 7:45pm and we had dinner from 7:45 to 8:15pm. Then, we went for the modified volleyball game. what we found out from the volleyball game was that teamwork was seriously required in order to win the game. the game managed to let us look at the strengths and weaknesses of our group.
After that we had a small talk by our instructors. thats all for today 17/6/2009. =)
